Navigating the Farne Islands the Haracalo struck the 'Goldstone Rock' and was badly holed. Towed to safety by the Holy Island lifeboat and fishing boats the boat was beached on the sands. Some of its cargo was removed in order to effect temporary repairs enabling the boat to be towed by sea-going tug the River Tyne shipyards to complete the task.
