| The Saint Cuthbert's Centre The St Cuthbert's Centre (formerly, the St Cuthbert's Holy Island Project) was developed during the nineteen nineties within the Island's 19th century Presbyterian 'St.Cuthbert's Church'. Basing our ministry upon the Christian qualities in the life of St Cuthbert we offer to Islanders and visitors a modern, well equipped Centre in which to meet for worship and fellowship, prayer and sacrament. Visitors to the centre find a light, attractive, multipurpose hall, seating up to 45 which is easily convertible from a sanctuary into a workshop area or somewhere to share food. There is a spacious gallery which is suitable for small group work, and the Old Boiler House Chapel has a very special atmosphere for private reflection, meditation and prayer. The Centre is surrounded by pleasant paths and herbaceous borders under gothic arches, sheltered by ivy and other garden climbers. Statuary by Jean Parker forms an attractive garden feature. The gardens and the centre are accessible to wheel chair users and we have a disabled toilet inside the main hall. |

USE OF THE CENTRE: Facilities and Costs The Centre is primarily for use by Christian groups and Churches and is regularly used for Quiet Days, Retreats and Away Days. It is close to the centre of Holy Island Village and is within easy reach of all the Island facilities and attractions. Of particular note is the new Island Life Heritage Centre containing the virtual Lindisfarne Gospels (a miracle of modern technology for a miracle of ancient art). |
