We welcome you to The Open Gate Retreats, whether you are an experienced retreatant or a total beginner we can offer you a range of programmed or personal retreats tailored to you.

You may wish to arrange to come with your own group (maximum 12) to visit the Island together and have teaching on Celtic Spirituality or the Island saints. Please contact us to discuss your wishes.

Retreat and Teaching Leaders: Unless otherwise stated these are: Rev Graham Booth (former Parish Priest) and Dr. Ruth Booth (general practicioner and spiritual director) and Rev Ray Simpson (lecturer, author and clergy consultant, Guardian of the Community).


Personal Retreats Menu

  1. Beginner's retreat: A first session to discuss hopes and expectations and possible ways forward; further sessions as requested
  2. Anamchara: A first session to map out a plan; a final session to reflect back.
  3. Personally guided: Thirty minutes prayer guidance given daily
  4. Silent: Meals may be taken to bedroom
  5. Study: Use of our Celtic Christian Library
  6. DIY: Using our Give yourself a retreat on Holy Island (see books)

COSTS

  • Public retreats, include meals, but not accommodation: Weekend £60.00 // Mid-week (Mon-Fri) £125.00 // Full week £180.00.
  • Anamchara and personally guided retreats: A suggested donation for those who can afford it of £35.
  • If you would like to come but cannot afford to please ask for a bursary.

  1. Although we continue to need bookings for Quiet Days, there is now no charge for them - but - we do ask for a donation from participants. Because of this we are no longer able to provide lunch but ask retreatants to bring and share your own food. We continue to supply tea and coffee throughout the day.

  2. Weekend Retreats cost £38 per person and include a light supper on Friday evening and lunch on Saturday and Sunday along with tea and coffee throughout the day.

N.B. The accommodation on Holy Island is almost always in high demand. We strongly advise retreatants to book accommodation at the same time as booking the retreat. Details of Holy Island accommodation providers sponsoring these web pages are available on the Holy Island Web Site.
